We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated towards Ben's operation. Ben has now had the operation which was a great success. He is now in a new home with a loving family. Again, thank you to everyone who made this possible. Photos in his new home are to follow. Please meet Ben. Ben is a lovely Border Terrier about 3 years old who came to us at the end of August 2010 after being found as a stray. Please take a moment to read Ben's story.
On the first day Ben came to us, we noticed he had a bit of a limp on his right hind leg which also looked shorter than his left leg. He also seemed to be in a fair bit of pain and discomfort. In Ben's best interest, we decided to put him in for a check with the vet. Swelling was then found in the leg so Ben went on a course of anti biotics and anti inflammatories. After the course of medicine and with Ben still lame on his leg, Ben was re-checked by the vet and was booked in for x-rays. The x-ray revealed that Ben actually had an untreated dislocated hip, a fracture with displaced fragment just lateral to femoral hip and to everyones shock, has a pellet likely from and air gun in his leg so has obviously been shot at also.

Being an old dislocation, Ben's leg has got worse and it isn't as simple as popping the bone back in place and requires and operation which is going to cost around £300 plus medication costs(for aftercare) which will also free him of the pellet.
Here at the kennels we are very proud to be doing everything in our power to help every dog that comes through. As most of you will understand, vets bills can be quite expensive and with all the dogs to look after, we cannot afford to just pay for the operation. Again, Ben holding his rear right leg uncomfortably
Sometimes we urgently need peoples help to make a dogs life more happy and painless. This is one of those times! Ben really is a lovely dog and will make someone a fantastic pet when he is better. We plead with you to please make a donation large or small. Every penny received will go towards Ben's operation and aftercare, and you will be helping a little dog become much happier and rid him of his pain.
If you do one good deed today, please make it a donation on our donation page for poor little Ben so we can have his operation done as soon as possible!
