This page will be telling you stories of some of the worst dogs we have seen in kennels

Billie

Billie is 10 month old Staffy. Billie came into kennels on the 5th of December after being found dumped in the forestry, she was shaking with fear and covered with scabby bleeding sores all over her body, The vet has diagnosed her with Demodex Mange that is both very sore and painful.

These photos are 3 weeks on she is growing in confidence and as you can see she is responding well to treatment but its a long and expensive road for her full recovery.

Watch this space and we will keep you updated on her progress. We would be greatfull for any donation to help us to give her and other strays like her the best care we can till they find their new forever homes.

Milly

Here is Milly the American Cocker Spaniel. Milly is about 2 years old and hasn't had the best 2 years. Please read on to read and see the shocking state of this poor little girl.

Milly came to us on the 30th September 2010 along with 4 Springer Spaniels from the same home. To our knowledge, she was living in a cage and it certainly showed. We have never seen a worse case of matting on a dog. Her feet were fully encased in matts and poo, she was walking in fleas and Harvest mites, and had an ear infection. It was so bad she had trouble walking because of the matts. The mites left her extremely itchy but unable to scratch due to the matts.

Her is a photo of Milly on the day she came to us before we started clipping her.

We really didn't know where to start on her. She was also very nervous of us and would flinch at every noise and touch. But because the matts were so very close to the skin, we had to be extra careful she didn't jump while we were cutting. At times, the matts were so tight it was hard to tell where her legs and paws were.

We decided to start by trying to get as much poo off of her as possible. This was some task as it was set in with the matts and seemed to go on forever. We really wondered how long Milly had been in this state before anyone did anything. Over the course of 3 days, we spent over 10 hours getting her to the condition she is in today and we were still working hard on getting every matt out so this dog could walk properly and comfortably.

Her are some photos of before and after we clipped, treated and bathed her.

As you can see, Milly is looking much better and is now able to walk without discomfort, pain and itchiness. Her confidence is growing everyday and even will come to you for a cuddle and a kiss. We really can't imagine the relief she must feel after all this time in a bad state. Here is a photo of all the fur and poo we cut off of her. It truly is enough to coat 2 dogs her size!

The photos here really do not depict how terrible it really was! Thankfully, she has come through a lovely dog and is up for rehoming to the right people.

 Bailey

This story is about Bailey the St.Bernard. Bailey is only 2 years old and has an awful start to life.

We were contacted at the beginning of September 2010 by a member of an animal welfare organisation who asked us if we would come and collect Bailey as he was in a reall mess. We really didn't expect Bailey to be in as much of a mess as he was.

We found out that Bailey had been kept in a small cupboard under the owners staircase for nearly 2 years!!!! Bailey was completly covered in excrement. It was so bad that his tail was connected to his leg through his own mess! His penis was encased in poo as were the between his toes. When cutting all the poo off him, we found lumps the size of rugby balls! In total, 5 hours was spent trimming him up and bathing him several times. Bailey was also very underweight.

We simply cannot believe that someone would be that cruel and callous to treat a dog that way. Without any interaction for that long a time, Bailey does not even know what toys are and is scared of them and would rather run away. He also flinched when he was stroked.

We are still working with Bailey and he is coming on in leaps and bounds. Bailey is now starting to develop a real lovely personality and even enjoys coming over for a cuddle. In time, we hope Bailey even learns to play with his toys. He has a lovely nature and would make such a good companion for someone with the time, space and energy to give him the life he deserves and needs.

Please see below for before and after pics.

It was very hard to get the photos that would have shown how bad the mess was. In the last picture above, all the dark parts is poo. Also notice the large lump of poo encasing bailey's penis. In the picture before, all under the matted coat is poo.

Bailey as he is now:

We are sure you will agree that Bailey is looking loads better. Only good things await Bailey when he finds a new loving home! Bailey is now up for adoption. Please call down the kennels so you can meet and greet with him. Please note that under kennel policy, we will not rehome a large dog with young children in the home.

Bailey has now found a fantastic new home with a lady close to the beach! Watch this space for new photos!!!

Here is the newest photo of Bailey we have dated 03/10/10 with a big thanks to his new owner.

Angel

Here is Angel. Angel is a Great Pyrenese Mountain dog who was 6 years old when coming to us in January 2010.

We had never seen a dog so neglected and skinny in all our time here. When Angel came off the van, we didn't expect to see what we did. Her fur was falling out, her hip bones were so prominent and she had awful mangey scabby skin. She was so depressed it looked as though she had given up on life altogether. She would hardly move and she really pulled on all our heart strings.

Here are pictures of Angel when she was fresh off the van. Please notice the "given up" look in her eyes:

Obviously, we were eager to get to work straight away and took more photos after a good shave and bath. These pictures show the true extent of how skinny she was:

It was a very long and slow process to put her right, the first 2 months she was still so down, depressed and underweight. At times we didn't think Angel would make it. But after numerous baths, her skin became better, and one day she suddenl seemed to pile the weight on! even her personality started to shine through! Here are a couple of photos taken in April 2010. Angel still seemed a little camera shy!:

She was making great, fast progress at this point and we were making sure she got alot of cuddles and positive attention. Her personality was really coming along and she got a new glint of happiness in her eye! Here is the last photo we took of Angel before she went to her new home!:

As you can see, she seems to have a new lease of life in her eye and was a different dog to the one we met months before. Angel has now been in her new home for over 2 months and is getting on very well with a doting family!
